What is a dealer bond?

A Surety Bond is a legally binding contract that ensures obligations will be met between three parties: The Principle; whoever needs the bond; the Obligee, the one requiring the bond; and the Surety, the insurance company guaranteeing the principal can fulfill the obligations.

What are the DMV requirements?

At minimum, Department of Motor Vehicle (DMV) requires all dealers to obtain 1.) a bond or irrevocable letter of credit in the amount of $25,000 and basic garage liability coverage in the amount of $30,000 liability and $10,000 in personal injury protection (PIP).

What is garage liability?

A Garage Insurance Policy is a commercial auto policy designed to address the needs of auto dealers. Coverages include Garage Liability, Garagekeepers, and Auto Physical Damage.

When does my bond have to be renewed?
