The South Portland Municipal Boat Ramp, located off Route 77 next to Bug Light, is a popular site. Inside the harbour Mudeford/Mudeford Quay can fish well for bass in the summer to ragworm, sandeel, peeler crab or mackerel baits, again quieter in winter but (small) whiting and cod can be about. Solway Starting in the south, the Solway has for many years been noted for it's variety of species on offer. Two or three hours either side of high tide is best time to fish the pier.
